Top 7 Questions Homeschoolers Are Asked

Image
Hey y'all! As most of y'all know by now, I am homeschooled, and have been my entire life. I've gotten A LOT of questions about being homeschooled. This post is meant to be funny, and there is absolutely no shade meant to be thrown on anyone!! Please don't take these too seriously! Here are my Top 7 Questions Homeschoolers Are Asked. 1. How do you have a social life/Do you have friends? Surprisingly, I get this one all the time.  I really don't understand. Yes, I have friends!! Church is a great way to meet people. If you play sports, there's another way (and yes, before you ask, homeschoolers do play sports.) to meet great people. Also, if you have friends of friends, often times you meet the nicest people that way. 2. Do you get to do school in your pajamas? This has many different answers depending on who you talk to. For me personally, I do not wear my pajamas to school because I have to get up, get ready, and be downstairs to start school by 8:00. But ye

Letting Go

Do you struggle with control? I know I do. As a sixteen year old, the rest of my life seems to loom upon me. I've really struggled these past few months with control. I only have two more years left in highschool, and then what? College? If so, where? What degree? What do I want to do with my life? How will I know what God wants for my life? I'm sixteen, I should really have these things figured out by now. My friends know what they want to be. Why can't I decide? These thoughts swirled around my mind endlessly, giving me no break. Last Sunday night, I was at home watching our church service live on the tv. The church had a guest family there that night. I was moved by their story. He and his wife were told by multiple doctors they would never be able to have children. However, they had 5 biological children and adopted 4 more. Nine children in total, ranging from ages 18 to 6! Then, this family was called to become missionaries in South Africa. So they went. And there the

Earthquake?!

8:07 EST, Sunday, August 9th, 2020, NC I glance at my clock while finagling my necklace, trying to get it untangled from 10 other necklaces. Shoot. I should have been downstairs 2 minutes ago. As I try to think of what else I need to get before leaving for church, my thoughts are interrupted by a low rumble. What in the world? Is it thundering?  Suddenly, I feel a slight movement under my feet. I look up, and the necklaces that are hanging in my closet are slowly swinging back and forth. They were still just two seconds ago. A quick thought flashes through my mind. Earthquake? But it couldn't be! We never have earthquakes in North Carolina. And if we do, we almost never feel them!   Was that just me? Am I imagining things? "Chad?" I hear my mother calling my Dad's name from downstairs in the kitchen. Nope, definitely not just me. "What was that?" I come out on our landing as Mom asks the question.  Yes, it was an earthquake. Nothing devastating, of course,

A Quick Life Update

Hey y'all! I just wanted to write a quick post today! School is starting soon (I start next Monday), and it seems crazy to me that summer is drawing to a close. With school starting soon, I wanted to let y'all know that I might not be able to post as much, due to my busy schedule (I know, I'm really not posting enough right now!). But hang in there. I've got some ideas, and with a little bit of time, they will turn into super fun blog posts (hopefully ;))! Also, is there anything you would like me to write about? I've thought about doing a series of blog posts (like a part 1,2, & 3 type of posts), but I don't know what that would look like. Any ideas?  The weather here in NC has been HOT. Like, we are sweltering over here. We have had several big thunderstorms, with thunder loud enough to shake the house, lol, but besides that, it has been in the high 90's. As in 90 degrees. Phew! Life has been pretty busy lately, due to getting ready for school.  So, wh
