Favorite Christmas Traditions//Day 17🎄🎄

I think one of my favorite things about the holiday season is Christmas traditions. They are so much fun, and I love being able to have my own. Today's post will be a list of a combination of my traditions, plus a few of my friends for fun. Please feel free to adopt these traditions as your own, and comment down below what you're favorite traditions are!!

  • decorating the Christmas tree with a plate of warm Christmas cookies. Ever since Cydney (my younger sister) and I were little, my mom would bake a batch of cookies right before beginning to decorate the Christmas tree, that way they would be warm and gooey while we decorated. Every year, I end up with a stomach ache from eating wayyyy too many cookies😂 
  • Christmas Eve with my grandparents. I'm originally from Virginia, which is where my Dad is from, and where my grandparents live. Every year, we go up on Christmas Eve for the day, open presents, play games, and eat lots of food. This year, I'll see a cousin I haven't seen in a long time, so I'm so excited about that!
  • eating at a local restaurant for Christmas Eve breakfast. This isn't my tradition, but a friend's. Unfortunately, due to the virus, they won't be able to fulfill this tradition this year. However, my friend told me that every year, he, his family, and some friends would all go to *a local restaurant* for breakfast on Christmas Eve.
  • open one present on Christmas Eve. Again, this is a friend's tradition. He did say that it was quite annoying that he couldn't open them all that day. Patience, m'friend, patience ;)
  • Reading the Christmas story before presents. Every year ever since before I was born, my Dad reads Luke 2 while the entire family sits around the Christmas tree. Then, we go downstairs to open presents :)
  • Breakfast casserole Christmas morning. Christmas Eve night, Mom prepares a breakfast casserole, and then Christmas morning pops it in the oven so we'll have a nice warm meal after opening presents.
  • Topping the Christmas tree with a star. I know plenty of people consider this a tradition, but I guarantee most of you haven't done it the way my friend does it! She said that this year, her (younger) sister picked her up so that she could place it at the top😆. If that isn't creative, I don't know what is!!

    Some yearly traditions my family has (with the exception of 2020, that is ;D) are filling out our "Christmas binder" with treats we made and people we gave them to, as well as driving to a local farm to see their light display. :) So much fun!

    We usually decorate for Christmas the weekend/week after Thanksgiving. Christmas morning we usually open stockings, eat blueberry muffins, do the Bible reading of Jesus' birth either from Matthew or Luke, open presents, and the rest of the day depends on whether or not we're with family. But we do include Christmas snacks and usually eggnog somewhere in the day. :D

Q&A!!

So, my lovely new friend, Sarah Grace, gave me a very good idea for a blog post! A Q&A!! I am super excited about this! Also, Ellen from  Ellen's Musings  is doing one at the same time, so that should be fun to do it alongside her! However, she is also doing assumptions, so that is extra cool! Ask me questions in the comments below, and I will be answering them next Thursday! Please don't ask me my birthday, but pretty much all other questions are good to ask (if one happens to be too personal, I just won't answer it). Have fun! Also, I know some people might be a little confused on how to pronounce my name, lol. It's pronounced like "Kaylee" NOT "Calley." I know, it is different, but I like it! Btw, my Dad wanted to spell it Caelea (My mom vetoed that, lol) My middle name would have made that spelling even more confusing then it already is (heyyyyy that's a question you can ask "What's your middle name" ;))

Just Be Held

Hey y'all! I just wanted to write a quick post today, to hopefully give a little encouragement. This morning as I was getting ready, I remembered a song that I hadn't heard in a very long time. It took me a few moments to hum along to the song, trying to remember the name. Once I did, I asked my Google Assistant to play it. What was the song, you may ask? Just Be Held by Casting Crowns. Wow. I hadn't heard the song in sooooo long, and it's hard to describe how much I needed to hear it this morning.  I'm not sure how the rest of the states are doing, but currently in NC there is a high spike in COVID-19. Specifically in the county that I live in. We are back on lockdown, and our church services (at my church specifically) have been online only for the past few weeks. I started college classes again this past Monday, and they have been completely online (using Microsoft Teams).
